Lucy and Dad

Lucy loves hanging out with her Dad. Chris is such a big help to me, my sleep time would be cut in half if he wern't so involved in taking care of Lucy. I even got to go see a movie with a friend this week. What a great guy. Lucy and I love him so much!

Vacuuming out the couch. (P.S. We'd also like to thank Daddy for Lucy's long skinny legs. Without his genes, she would have ended up with her mom's bdonka-donk bum and thunder thighs)

Relaxing

We don't have a tree this year (we're going to Washington for Christmas) so Chris put some Christmas lights on the piano so Lucy could look at them.

This scowl is classic Lucy, and inherited strait from her Dad.

I Love Lucy

Lucy is such an amazing little girl, our whole lives have turned upside-down. We love her so much! Lucy is like her mama: a little high maintenance, but a lot of fun to be around!!

Lucy Grace Campbell

Lucy Grace was born last friday and is the most perfect baby ever. We went into the doctor for a routine appointment on Friday afternoon and my blood pressure was pretty high so they sent me immediatly to the hospital to deliver. Within an hour I was induced and had my epidural. 3 hours after that Lucy was born and we have been in heaven ever since. She is just the most perfect baby, eats and sleeps very well, we are so lucky to have her!

I can't tell you how much Lucy loves her dad. Sometimes the only place she's happy is in his arms or listening to him talk.

I know I'll regret posting this picture, it's not very flattering, but there's just something special about when a mom sees her child for the first time. It makes all the work worth it.

Wow, I'm bad at this

Hi everyone. This is quite embarrasing that I havn't posted in so long, but honestly it's just par for the course. I admit I have a history of procrastination and leaving projects unfinished, so obviously it's going to come out in my blog. I have had a busy few months, but just wanted to post an update on the excitement. We are frantically preparing to have a baby this month and I'm really getting nervous. I think it's probably too late to change my mind about this whole motherhood thing but I'm not afraid to admit that I'm not ready yet! My pregnancy is going beautifully and I'm not at all uncomfortable so I'd just prefer for things to stay the way they are for a while. Change is very scary, especially one this huge! We are happy to have baby girl on the way but "on the way" is a phrase I'm perfectly comfortable with, I'm probably the first person to every say this but I'd like to be pregnant for a little while longer.

Ode to August...so far.

Well, I don't want to get too "thanky-thanky" and "I'm seriously so blessed" but I do have to say that the month of August has been especially fabulous for me. Despite some mild bladder incontinence and rapid weight gain (if I don't deliver a 40 pound baby I'm going to be upset), there have been so many amazing things that have made August great! Here's just a few.....

1. The Olympics.... a.k.a. Mikey Phelps

2. Chris won 100 bucks and a carrying case for his golf shoes in a tournament!!
(unfortunately I don't have an actual picture of him golfing, but here's a representation)

3. A pretty cool job with nonverbal patients.

4. Another book about sparkly vampires and their cute (kind of creepy, but cute) offspring.

5. A slow news month. (Actual story in SL Trib)

"Researcher says Bigfoot just a rubber gorilla suit"

Well, if that doesn't add up to a good month, I don't know what does! See you next time.

Something New

I guess it's about time that I post something new. I knew when I started this that it would be a hit-or-miss thing but I would really like to make an effort to stay within the blogging world so I'll try to stay more up to date. We have had a very busy month consisting of 2 trips to Washington and a lot of long hours spent at work. Most recently I just returned from Basin City after attending my 10 year high school reunion. This was actually pretty fun. It was fun to see people I havn't seen in 10 years and catch up with what everyone's been up to. I guess I shouldn't have been suprized because I went to high school with a lot of really great people, but everyone was very nice and friendly. People generally ignored the "groups" they were a part of in high school and were genuinely interested in what everyone else's life is like now. I think coming from a small town, we all have some basic connection that is bonding and it's interesting to see how people's lives have developed. Here's a pic of me and my best HS girlfriends.

We also took our annual trip to Priest Lake in July and that is always one of the highlights of the year for us.

One more thing... We went to the Dr this afternoon and it looks like baby girl is coming along just fine. She has a strong heart beat and is measuring one week ahead of schedule! I love her already!

A pink grenade

You'll notice that I have turned the background of this blog pink, thats because we went in for an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and found out we're having a girl. This is so exciting for us and we couldn't be happier. I'm most excited about seeing Chris as the father of a little girl, he is so sweet, kind and thoughtful in some ways I feel like maybe a boy would be wasted on him. He is the perfect person to be a daddy to a girl. Everyone who knows him has said the same thing; one coworker told him he was so sure Chris would spoil this baby girl so rotten it would look like "a pink grenade" exploded in our house. This is true. On a recent trip to Wyoming, Chris came home with the first present for his little girl, the sweetest pair of tiny pink cowboy boots.

Everything on the ultrasound looked like it was all normal and forming well. The ultrasound tech was a little annoyed with me for asking so many questions and making her explain every detail of what she saw. So far everyting seems to be progressing well and I even feel the baby move quite often, especially after I eat something sweet like fruit or ice cream.

Life in general continues to go well for us, we are looking forward to going to the Cabin with our family in July and are keeping busy with summer activities. I've been spending a lot of time with friends and sisters shopping and having fun and Chris has been taking advantage of the nice weather by golfing as much as he can. We were able to get away for a long weekend where we stayed in a Bed and Breakfast in Pinedale Wyoming (near Jackson Hole). It was relaxing and a lot of fun. Overall, it's a pretty good life.

P.S. Here's another dance I love.

Summer

Summer's here and there are so many things I'm excited about. It's so nice to wake up in the morning to the birds singing and sun shining through your window. I'm also out of the nausous stages of pregnancy and that feels really good. I'm just starting to realize why it is people choose to have more than one child. One month ago I could not have possibly explained to you why. I've also started to gain a little more weight and for the first time I really love that!

So far one of the highlights of my summer was having my sister-in-law Brittany come down from Washington and being able to hang out with her and Louesa. We went to the park one afternoon with Crystal, Grandma and my other two nieces Abigail and Anita! It was so fun!

Summer also brings one of my favorite TV shows. It feels a little wrong to admit that a favorite part of summer for me is on TV, but that's me, take it or leave it. My life could probably use quite a bit of sugarcoating but that would take a lot of energy and just keeping a blog is hard enough. The truth is I sleep till noon, my husband does ALL the laundry, and I love "So you think you can dance". Here's a few of my favorite performances.

Welcome to our Blog!

Hello all!! Welcome to my blog. I'm not sure how many people if anyone will read this but I thought I'd give this whole blogging thing a try. I have to admit I have been very resistant to having a blog because I was afraid it would turn into a "scrapbook". This worries me because I've always been very proud to just put my photos into an album (sans stickers, glue, brads, ribbon, etc.). In fact I've actively rebelled against the whole movement. I've even been known to use the hobby as a derogetory adjective (as in... "ew, she's such a scrapbooker").
However recently, something has happened in my life that has brought me out of my anti-scrapbooking ways so much that I may be making a trip to the craft store very soon. What could have caused such a dramatic change in events? I am expecting my first baby. And while I still maintain my ambitious, assiduous, independent lifestyle I am willing to concede on a few things. The first.........a blog.
